Caleb & his homecoming date

On Friday, October 14th, the Heidelberg High School had a date auction. All proceeds went to the Thespian Club for their upcoming Drama Trip. Caleb is a member of the Thespian Club and agreed to be the Mystery Date. I decided to go into the auditorium in order to see how he did. I was so nervous for him - I didn't want him to receive no bids. {There was actually one girl who only received the one opening bid}

When it was Caleb's turn, he sent a friend out in costume and read a little thing that Caleb wrote. Not sure if you have ever seen the Old Spice commercials where the guy says, in a really deep voice, "Look at your man, now look at me, now back at your man, now back at me - sadly, your man is not me." Caleb's little write-up instead of being a bio was a variation on that theme.

As soon as the "Mystery Date" stand-in came out, I heard a girl behind me say, "OH that's Caleb, I HAVE to bid on him." Then I heard her say, "He's so cute and sweet and funny!" And then she proceeded to outbid everyone and "win" Caleb as her homecoming date.

The best thing that happened though was when Caleb came out on stage and revealed himself the kids went WILD. Standing up and screaming, "Caleb, you're so awesome." Phew, I was so relieved! So heartwarming to know that my baby is doing well and has plenty of friends at the high school.

Caleb and Brianna went to eat at a little Italian restaurant (which was filled with high school kids going to Homecoming) and then they walked to the High School for the Homecoming Dance. Both of them said they had a great time! They sure did look cute!

PROOF!!!!

I have PROOF that husbands are able to cook dinner. Now, what do I do with this information?

James was making his Mexican Goulash - so so rustic and tasty! Perfect with quesadillas, sour cream and salsa. YUM, thanks honey for a wonderful dinner.

Quick Visit

Recently we had a friend come to see us here in Germany. He could only stay for a day but we are so thankful that he chose to spend that day with us. Wilkommen to Germany Titus.

Just picked Titus up at the airport - 9:35 am Tuesday July 12th. We haven't seen Titus in nearly 18 months. He was certainly a sight for sore eyes. While we enjoyed his visit we also missed his lovely wife Angie and his 2 daughters Bella and Kaewynn who were unable to make the trip with him. Maybe, hopefully, next time. Since we had such a limited time with Titus (his flight back to Milan, Italy left the next morning at 6 am and it is a 2 hour drive from our house to the airport) we decided to tour the area and stay the night in Sohren (just 5 minutes from the airport). First we took Titus to the little towns of Trarbach and Traben on the Mosel River. Two gorgeous little villages. After walking around in town we decided to hike up to the Grevensburg Castle ruins. The hike was a bit steep and the weather was nice but so so HUMID. We were all sweating up a storm not 5 minutes into the hike. But the views at the top were breathtaking. After we came back down from the ruins we headed into town for gelato and then across the bridge to Traben for lunch. Here are just a few shots of our day!

My fabulous lunch - Camembert cheese souffle with preiselbeeren (mini cranberries) and pear mustard.  It came with a salad and of course, I had a little taste of James' schnitzel with white wine cheese sauce.

After our trip to Traben-Trarback we headed to Cochem.

Project Life and Spring Break
